Monty Python’s Personal Best

Each living Python gets a DVD compilation of their favorite sketches from Monty Python’s Flying Circus. While watching Monty Python is never a bad thing, the format is a little irritating. Sketches like “The Spam Song” and “The Spanish Inquisition” aren’t as funny when they’re separated from the show and absent their conclusions. The great thing about Flying Circus was the way the sketches connected to each other, so fans of the show would be better off just buying the series’ DVDs and calling it a day. That said, the Terry Gilliam disc is very cool because it’s devoted to his wild animation. The late Graham Chapman’s disc is sweet because the surviving Pythons pay tribute to him. The other discs are pretty expendable.
