In one of the more amazing screen transformations in cinema history, Charlize Theron transforms herself into Aileen Wuornos, the Florida serial killer executed for murdering six men. While her physical work is astounding (added pounds, fake teeth, shaved eyebrows), the performance to go with it is remarkable, as well. Theron’s portrayal of Wuornos gives a true and honest impression of why somebody would resort to such dastardly acts. Christina Ricci is on hand as Wuornos’ lover, a shy woman looking for someone to protect her. The love story is amazing in that it somehow manages to have depth in the middle of all the chaos. Theron should get the Oscar for her work. What she does here is memorable.
