Money in the water

If you have a great idea to help preserve the Truckee River but need some cash to do it, the Truckee River Fund is seeking proposals for fall 2010.

TRF was created by Truckee Meadows Water Authority in 2004, and recipients are to match at least 25 percent of TMWA’s dollars. Grants range from $5,000 to $500,000. Past projects include enhancing wetlands at Rancho San Rafael park, improving urban storm water quality, restoring lower Steamboat Creek, and funding the past three years of the Truckee River Clean-up event.

Deadline for submissions is Tuesday, Sept. 14. Learn more at www.truckeeriverfund.org.
