Louisianan takes RG-J post
Fred Hamilton has abruptly left the publisher’s office at the Reno Gazette-Journal. It was apparently not an amicable parting of the ways and the newspaper’s statement contained none of the traditional praise for the job done by the departee, reserving its comments for his replacement, Ted Power. “He replaces Fred H. Hamilton, who has left the company,” read Gannett Corporation’s prepared statement.
The departure set off some Gannett musical chairs that illustrate how few ties modern corporate execs have to their communities.
• Fred Hamilton left the Gazette-Journal.
• He was replaced by Ted Power, who departed the Daily Advertiser, Times of Acadiana and Daily World in Louisiana.
• Leslie Hurst left the Lansing State Journal in Michigan to replace Power at the three Louisiana newspapers.
• Richard A. Ramhoff left the Livingston County Daily Press & Argus in Michigan to replace Hurst at the Lansing State Journal.
The changes were announced by Gannett President Sue Clark Johnson, herself a former Gazette-Journal publisher.
