Lyon County residents got a little help from President Bush on Tuesday, when he declared flood-soaked Fernley a disaster area, making residents eligible for certain federal grants and loans. Fernley was deluged with up to eight feet of icy water when a Truckee River levee gave way about 4 a.m. on Jan. 5. Some 800 homes were impacted.
