Long Way Back Home

These brothers from way-up-state New York were hailed as “Emerging Artists of the Year” in 2003; this release serves notice that the band has indeed emerged. They use sibling harmonies—reminiscent of the Louvins and the Everlys—to create a “roots” niche all their own. The CD showcases a range of songs, including seven originals, that stretch from orthodox bluegrass through ragtime, honky-tonk and a cover of the Band’s “Ophelia,” to vintage country and back again. While drawing deeply from the well of tradition, their music is vibrant, rolling, alternately spooky and joyous; a definitely living and meaningful contribution to that grab bag of musical expressions called Americana.
