Lee “Scratch” Perry

This two-disc set completes Trojan’s re-issue series, covering the entire output of the notorious Lee "Scratch" Perry’s UK Upsetter label in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Perry was already famous by this point as a brilliant reggae producer and borderline psychopath; his production style was highly idiosyncratic, characterized by weird found-sound interjections, lots of swampy echo and reverb and his own disjointed chants and pronouncements. The records he produced for singers like Max Romeo, Junior Byles and Junior Murvin (not to mention the young Bob Marley and the Wailers) are now considered classics. The eight discs that make up this four-volume series include rare treasures by such artists as Big Youth, Dennis Alcapone, Leo Graham and Bob Marley. Those with ears to hear will thrill to almost every track.
