Jett set

Joan Jett has broken gender and genre barriers throughout her 30-year career. As a teen, she played guitar in the punk rock band The Runaways during a time when an all-female rock band was considered a novelty act. When major record labels wouldn’t sign her as a solo artist, she formed her own label, Blackheart Records. She and her band The Blackhearts later found success when their single, “I Love Rock N’ Roll,” hit No. 1 on the music charts in 1982. Joan Jett & The Blackhearts perform 7:30 p.m. Jan. 6 at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe at Stateline. Tickets are $45. Call (800) 427-7247.
