Jazzed up

The Savage Jazz Dance Company brings its high-energy dances to Virginia City this weekend. Founded in 1992 by Reginald Ray-Savage, the company is one of the few all-jazz concert dance groups in the country. The multi-ethnic ensemble’s repertoire includes works performed to the music of Miles Davis, Duke Ellington and Charles Mingus as well as contemporary jazz composers like Marcus Shelby. The Savage Jazz Dance Company performs 7 p.m. March 27 at Piper’s Opera House, 12 North B St., in Virginia City. Tickets are $12 general and $8 students. Call 847-0433.
