It’s 2 p.m. Are your sprinklers running?

Just a friendly, annual reminder that watering your lawn in the heat of day is wasteful and pretty pointless, as the water evaporates nearly as fast as it falls on those blades of grass or what have you. It could also earn you a fine from the Truckee Meadows Water Authority. So remember: No watering between noon and 6 p.m., from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Those are the rules. And, though it’s not a rule, it’s so hot lately, you might as well water before 9 a.m.
