It Might Get Loud

Rated 4.0

One of the finest rock documentaries this decade features a summit involving three guitar greats: Jimmy Page, the Edge and Jack White. They get together for a day, share some of their stories, and teach each other how to play their songs. The film also follows each of the artists around separately, revisiting locations where they made music. It’s fascinating stuff, made all the better by the fact that each of the men have tremendously interesting stories to tell. (Page recounting the recording of Led Zeppelin IV is especially marvelous.) White is the nuttiest of the bunch, making instruments out of Coke bottles and toting around a miniature version of himself. Getting to see the Edge strip down his sound and explain the origins of his music is yet another point of greatness. Watching these guys play together is icing on the cake.
