In the mix

Dance the night away when DJ Dan spins next Thursday at Vino. The world-renowned mixmaster visits the area about month after another famous DJ, Paul Oakenfold, made his appearance at Caesars Tahoe. Born Daniel Wherret in Olympia, Wash., DJ Dan first made his mark during the early ’90s rave scene in Los Angeles. He hooked up with DJ Ron D Core, and the two hosted the popular No-Doz in in the City of Angels. His skills were in high demand in L.A. and San Francisco (where he worked with the Funky Techno Tribe), and eventually, he was invited to spin in clubs across the globe. In 1995, he collaborated with Jim Hopkins under the moniker the Electroliners and released the hit dance single, “Loose Caboose.” He also had another hit in 1998 with “That Zipper Track.” Today, DJ Dan travels around the world appearing at dance clubs and festivals. He regularly produces mixes of other artists’ singles as well as creates his own material. He recently reworked Depeche Mode’s single “Precious” and the Pussycat Doll’s “Don’t Cha.” His latest album is the double disc mix CD, Lift. DJ Dan performs at 8 p.m. March 16 at Vino, 240 N. Sierra St. Tickets are $20. Call 342-7615.
