Barber herself leaves the program at the end of this month.">Nevada oral history project director Alicia Barber, author of a history of Reno, spoke to the Nevada Women’s Lobby this week about the fate of the 49-year-old program, which may not make it to 50. The oral history program has recorded the lives of hundreds of prominent and lesser known Nevadans, but the recession and budget cuts have it hanging by its fingernails. During her time as director, Barber has succeeded on getting the program’s work product of a half century posted online at www.unr.edu/oralhistory.
