How to describe the four-day, spectacular of the senses that is the annual High Sierra Music Festival? It seems a bit like trying to condense the Odyssey into a single, pithy haiku. Even with photos to illustrate, any attempt would fall far, far short.

Of course there's the music. Just the headliners for 2013, Robert Plant, Primus, Thievery Corporation, and moe., were enough to make many fans giddy. Add in another 50 or so acts like Allen Stone, California Honeydrops, and Reno's own Jelly Bread, and you had a dance party just waiting for the dancers.

But a music festival is all about the people who attend. By that measure, High Sierra is very much a family reunion, but some kin have yet to meet. Mix the music and people in the beautiful decorated venue of the Plumas County Fairgrounds and magic happens.
