If you’ve ever wanted to run for ofice, there is a bargain available right now. In Nevada’s special election for the U.S. House seat vacated by Dean Heller, the normal filing fee is not being charged. Residents can run for Congress for free.

Just imagine the family Thanksgiving dinner when you can say, “Now, when I ran for Congress …”

And this is an unusual race. There’s no primary, political party influence is minimal, and everyone in all parties run in a group. With a large field, that reduces the number of votes needed to win. It will be possible to win by getting a single digit percentage, depending on how many people run.
