’Haus for the holiday

While Halloween was less than a week away, Bauhaus fans were already celebrating the spooky season. While the so-called Godfathers of Goth weren’t playing in Reno, local fans were more than willing to travel the 200-plus miles to San Francisco’s baroque SF Weekly Warfield Theatre. Most fans arrived fashionably late. Singer Peter Murphy belted out the band’s best songs while guitarist Daniel Ash tore his way through the 90-minute set with his patented “dark sonic” sound. Bassist David J and drummer Kevin Haskins filled in the “dark holes” with a solid rhythm section. Bauhaus played crowd-pleasers such as “She’s in Parties” and covered “Ziggy Stardust.” After the requisite “Bela Lugosi’s Dead” as an encore, Ash reminisced with fans backstage in a Velvet Underground T-shirt.
