Though it has gone mostly unnoticed, a local quarterly environmental newspaper is being published in Reno.
Greno, now in its third issue, is published in a tabloid format. The current issue is 12 pages. Publisher is Morgan Tiar and the editor is Christal Padilla. It has a website at http://mygreno.com/wp/
The publication has articles on localism, urban farming, green home cleaning products, permaculture, tree planting, ranching, and greenwashing (marketing environmentally unfriendly products as “green”). It’s available at Sundance Bookstore, among other locations.
The newspaper calls itself “Northern Nevada’s First Truly Sustainable Community Publication.” Similar themes run through ads: “Reno’s only sustainable living store,” “Northern Nevada’s first and only truly sustainable community bike shop.”
