Last week the Desert Research Institute announced the $500,000 Nell J. Redfield Foundation Post Doctoral Fellowship in renewable energy to support innovation in Northern Nevada. Recent Ph.D. graduates involved in renewable energy research, science or engineering will be eligible for funding. DRI hopes to draw more researchers to Nevada and is already conducting world-renowned studies in wind, solar, geothermal energy, hydrogen applications, biomass-to-energy systems, and energy conservation. DRI supports environmental education for nearly all grade levels, including the GreenPower program that plans classes, projects and events for young kids to learn about sustainable energy.
