GOP: Reid guilty by association

Promptly upon Harvey Whittemore’s conviction for allegedly making illegal campaign contributions, the National Republican Senate Committee in D.C. attacked U.S. Sen. Harry Reid, who received the contributions.

“Harry Reid is rarely at a loss for words, but he's been notably silent on the conviction and corruption of one of his closest friends and allies,” NRSC publicist Brad Dayspring said in a prepared statement.

Trial prosecutors never accused Reid of any wrongdoing.
