Gods and Generals

Rated 1.0 A Civil War movie where slavery is treated like a non-issue, and African Americans are all smiles. The film is strangely slanted towards the Confederate army, treating the North like invading scoundrels. The battle sequences feel like producers recruited a bunch of reenactment enthusiasts and set them loose. (You can actually see the extras laughing during battle sequences.) Stephen Lang plays General Stonewall Jackson as a pontificating, preaching moron with one of the funniest death scenes you will ever see in a movie. Ted Turner executive produced, appears in a cameo as a Confederate soldier, and is a major dickweed. At nearly four hours long, damn near killed me.
