Gibbons becomes leftist

An alert reader pointed out to us that the official governor’s photo of Gov. Jim Gibbons on the state highway map is facing the wrong way, apparently accidentally flopped in the printing process. The reader had not actually seen the original photo. He just happened to notice that the handkerchief was on the wrong side in the map version.

In February 1964, it was discovered that the design for the U.S. Post Office stamp commemorating Nevada’s centennial was based on a photograph in a Nevada Department of Economic Development tourist brochure that had been printed with the negative flopped, so a graphic drawing of Virginia City was a mirror image of reality, but the problem was solved before printing.
