Ghost Rider

I actually almost liked this one. Nicolas Cage, who damn near killed his career with The Wicker Man, fares a little better as comic book character Johnny Blaze. By day, Johnny is a motorcycle stunt driver with a bad hairpiece. By night, he’s the Ghost Rider. This is due to his inadvertently selling his soul to the Devil, played with a not-so-surprising lack of charisma by Peter Fonda. The transformation scenes are kind of cool, and the special effects aren’t half bad. But Eva Mendes is simply lousy as the love interest, and Wes Bentley is lousy as the bad guy, Blackheart. On the plus side, Sam Elliot is ultra cool as The Caretaker. This one could’ve been good if they went darker. Get sicker with the sequel.
