Friends with Money

Jennifer Aniston plays a former schoolteacher turned maid who likes to smoke pot and steal body lotions. Her friends are all rich, which makes for occasionally awkward social situations. Writer-director Nicole Holofcener (Lovely & Amazing) has made an insightful film with biting humor and an interesting outlook on human relationships. Some might think her views are dark, but I found them hopeful and real. The characters in this film, played by the likes of Catherine Keener, Frances McDormand and Joan Cusack are going through life difficulties, and the film doesn’t go out of its way to solve all of their problems before it’s over. That’s probably because problems often don’t get solved; they just get absorbed and life goes on. Great performances all around.
