Former Reid aide to White House?

A former press aide to U.S. Sen. Harry Reid of Nevada is under consideration to become Barack Obama’s senior White House communications director.

In addition to serving Reid, Stephanie Cutter also was a longtime advisor to Sen. Edward Kennedy and helped orchestrate Kennedy’s well-timed endorsement of Obama during the primary/caucus season.

Cutter previously served in the White House as President Clinton’s deputy communications director and was Sen. John Kerry’s spokesperson in the 2004 presidential campaign. The intraparty recriminations after Kerry’s defeat were described by the New York Times as Cutter’s principal drawback in the competition for the White House post.
