Forgetting Sarah Marshall

Rated 4.0

The latest from the Judd Apatow comedy conveyer-belt stars Jason Segel (who also wrote the script) as a TV show music composer dumped by his hot actress girlfriend Sarah (Kristen Bell). He’s left in a sorry state, and takes an impromptu trip to Hawaii, where it just so happens, unbeknownst to him, his ex is also vacationing. What follows is an extremely funny story featuring many great comic performances. Many of Apatow’s usual cronies (Paul Rudd, Jonah Hill, Bill Hader) participate, all delivering memorable work. Russell Brand is especially funny as Aldous Snow, Sarah’s new rock star boyfriend (His bit with a Tommy Bahama shirt is classic). Segel and Bell truly shine in this film, and both are poised for superstardom, as long as they avoid movies about clams and evil clowns. Big surprise: Mila Kunis, who is usually awful, is totally adorable and winning as Segel’s new love interest.
