Nevadans, Californians and Floridians buy more renewable energy products that anyone in the nation, according to data from Amazon.com. That includes purchases of wind generators, solar panels, energy management and power conservation products, Energy Star products and LED light bulbs.

The online retailer looked at cross-category purchases of eco-friendly products to get, as Amazon said on its blog, a “larger picture of how America is going green.”

The data isn’t presented in a comprehensive way. It’s primarily shown through a series of pixilated maps highlighting “hot spots”—much like some biodiversity maps—of various green interests.

For instance, New Mexico and Arizona bought the most water conservation products, such as rain barrels. Santa Cruz residents bought the most green toilets. For gardening, Grand Junction, Colo., bought more than three times the national average of composting products, while Eureka, Calif. in Humboldt County sought a better harvest through buying a high number of gardening products. The greenest parents tend to live in Vermont, Massachusetts and Washington, according to the data. And the biggest environmental book worms live in Vermont, Montana and Washington D.C.

Overall, the biggest consumers of green products live in California, New Hampshire and Vermont.
