Federal list heavy on big box stores

The $40 coupons (actually plastic credit-style cards) sent out by the federal government for purchase of television adapter units arrive with a list of up to eight local stores in the addressee’s zip code where the adapter units are for sale.

All but one of the eight stores listed by the U.S. Commerce Department in the Truckee Meadows are large corporate chain stores like Walmart. The one exception is Lang Electronics, 1129 Hunter Lake Drive. If there are other locally owned stores that sell the adapters, let us know, and we’ll get the word out.

The adapters are needed to convert analog television sets to receive digital signals after February (or, in the case of Reno’s KOLO, January).
