Fairy tale theater
There are plenty of things you can do with your family besides Christmas shopping this weekend. You can go Christmas caroling, take a spin on the ice at the downtown Rink on the River or take your young ones to a performance of Tahoe Players’ Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs the Musical. Adapted from the Brothers Grimm fairy tale, the production features more than 100 actors, singers and dancers who help tell the story of the hapless heroine who flees her jealous stepmother and briefly finds a safe haven among seven dwarfs (or dwarves, if you prefer) who mine in the mountains. The Tahoe Players’ 15th annual holiday season show includes special effects such as lifts, waterfalls, revolving stages and a rain curtain. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs performances are 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Dec. 18 at the Reno Hilton Theater, 2500 E. Second St. Tickets are $18 adults and $12 for children. Call 789-2285.
