Exposure

Award-winning English author Talitha Stevenson’s second novel, Exposure, is about a well-to-do London family wracked by scandal. Alistair Langford’s successful career as a barrister is ruined when a brief extramarital affair makes the front pages, but it’s a completely different secret that threatens to destroy his marriage and the privileged existence he’s worked so hard for. Meanwhile, his yuppie son Luke becomes dangerously obsessed with a gorgeous and selfish ex-girlfriend. His elegant, selfless wife, Rosalind, realizes that she has sacrificed her entire life to a lie. Stevenson skillfully explores the dark undercurrents of deception, sexual longing and betrayal through her characters’ distorted vision; the plot twists are sometimes predictable but have a convincing feel of inevitability.
