Ensign tries to break unions

U.S. Sen. John Ensign demanded lower wages for union workers as the price of his vote for the auto bailout. He said unionized car workers should not be making the $70 an hour they do. Workers at non-union plants average $30 an hour, he said. Critics challenged his figures.

Ensign voted for the October Wall Street bailout and the 2001 airline bailout. He has made no similar demand on management salaries.
