Economic indicators

Last week’s meeting of the Washoe County Commission provided evidence that while surrounding states may be in economic recovery, Nevada is still in the doldrums.

The commissioners voted to reduce planned pay increases for various county officials. And there was $459,846 provided for children services funding to aid in “keeping families intact” in hard times for the working poor. They also delayed action on award of a $1,198,267 management contract for the homeless shelter. That matter will be resolved at the June 28 meeting.
