Eco-Event: Chalk Creek watershed community meeting
A Northwest Reno community meeting to raise awareness about the Chalk Creek watershed will be held Tues., Nov. 17 at 5:30 p.m. at the Northwest Reno Library, 2325 Robb Drive. Chalk Creek is along the south side of Peavine Mountain by Robb Drive and carries excessive amounts of salts, nitrogen and phosphorous. This presentation by the city of Reno and Truckee River Fund is aimed at reducing the runoff from over-irrigating, car washing and other uses that carry fertilizers, pesticides and pollutants down the gutter, into the Chalk Creek watershed and on to the Truckee River. The meeting will summarize field research, the current situation, tips for smart water use and pollution reduction in Northwest Reno.
