Eco-Event: 4th Annual Green Living Festival

Make a bike blender smoothie, bake cookies in a solar oven, learn about beekeeping, composting, backyard chickens and more at the 4th Annual Green Living Festival on Saturday., Sept. 11 at Lampe Park, 1325 Waterloo Lane in Gardnerville. Held 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., the event also features programs on edible landscaping, household recycling, renewable energy, a tomato contest and a keynote speech by green builder and writer Matthew Stein (pictured, his book) on “Peak Oil Prep and Making the Shift to Sustainability” at noon.
