Down with Love

Rated 3.0 Those crap Rock Hudson-Doris Day sexual revolution flicks from the ’60s get a cute homage in Down with Love, a shot-by-shot restoration of those schmaltzy films. Renee Zellweger stars as the author of feminist manifesto Down with Love, a book that urges women to replace the men in their lives with chocolate. Ewan McGregor stars as a pig of a man, setting out to expose the author as a fraud. David Hyde Pierce steals the show in the “Tony Randall” role (Randall actually makes an appearance in the film). The movie’s adorable and a lot more enjoyable than the films it spoofs. Stick around for the credits because McGregor and Zellweger do a great musical number.
