Do the M*A*S*H

Even if you weren’t alive during the original airings of M*A*S*H, you’re probably familiar with the 1970s television series based on the film about a group of combat surgeons stationed in Korea during the Korean War. Those of you who did watch the show back in its heyday probably had a favorite character—irreverent “Hawkeye” Pierce, by-the-rules “Hot Lips” Houlihan or cross-dressing Max Klinger. This weekend, you can dress up as a member of the 4077th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital during the Reno B.L.U.E.S. Society’s annual Vet’s Day dance party M*A*S*H Bash. Participants are encouraged wear hospital scrubs, fatigues, Hawaiian shirts or vintage military uniforms to the event, which includes a costume contest. The Blues Monsters, Jason King Band, Blue Haven, Boogie Monsters, Soul Shaker and Guitar Woody & The Boilers featuring Michelle Lundeen will perform blues music to keep the audience in a festive mood. Proceeds from the event benefit the Washoe County Special Olympic Athletes. The party begins 2 p.m. Nov. 15 at the Cal-Neva Virginian at Second and South Virginia streets. Tickets are $8 and can be purchased at Soundwave CDs, Recycled Records and Cal-Neva. Call 786-5021 or visit www.renoblues.org.
