Dirty Pretty Things
A good thriller about a hotel operating as an organ harvesting factory thanks to the desperation of illegal aliens. Directed by Stephen Frears (
The Grifters,
High Fidelity), it features a stunning performance form Chiwetel Ejiofor as Okwe, a former African doctor with a past who is forced into the seedy underground of kidney robbing. In an English-speaking role, Audrey Tautou is excellent as Senay, even if her Turkish accent is a little off. The film actually boasts a decent horror element, and it remains authentic until a finale that is just a bit conventional. Still, the performances make this one well worth watching.
This might be the goriest mainstream movie ever made.
