Dark matter

Alt rockers My Chemical Romance bring their morose brand of “post-hardcore emo” to Reno next week. MCR made its debut with its 2002 album, I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love. While the band gained an underground following with this album, it wasn’t until their second release, 2004’s Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, that they made the leap to a more mainstream audience. The band says the disc started out as a concept album about a man who makes a deal with the devil, but the focus later changed to include songs based on their personal experiences. Tracks such as the hit single “I’m Not Okay (I Promise), “You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us in Prison” and “I Never Told You What I Do For A Living” should have fans pondering what’s fact, and what’s fiction. The group, who played on the Vans Warped tour this summer, will perform Oct. 3 at the Silver State Pavilion inside the Reno Hilton, 2500 E. Second St. Alkaline Trio and Reggie & The Full Effect open the 7 p.m. show. Tickets are $19.99. Call 789-2285.
