Cool vibes

If all the carbs and the L-tryptophan from Thursday’s turkey dinner didn’t put you in a mellow mood, perhaps the smooth jazz tunes of the North Lake Tahoe Thanksgiving Jazz Festival will. The annual event features performances by contemporary jazz artists Bobby Caldwell, Peter White, Rick Braun and Mindi Abair (pictured). Caldwell kicks off the weekend event on Friday. The singer-songwriter and his band present “An Evening of Holiday Love Songs.” Jazz guitarist Peter White returns to Lake Tahoe on Saturday for his second annual holiday tour “A Peter White Christmas.” Trumpeter Rick Braun and saxophonist Mindi Abair (who performed at last year’s event) will share the stage with White, whose latest album is Confidential. Braun’s latest album is a collection of live recording titled Sessions Volume 1. Abair, who took the smooth jazz world by storm last year, follows up her debut album, It Just Happens That Way, with Come As You Are. The shows begin 8 p.m. Nov. 26-27 at Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa and Casino, at the corners of Country Club and Lakeshore drives in Incline Village. Tickets are $50-$75.
