Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

Earnest inventor Flint Lockwood (voice of Bill Hader) tries to provide food for his hometown, where they only eat sardines. He creates a machine that’s launched into the sky, resulting in food storms. The storms start with harmless cheeseburgers, but quickly progress into giant flapjacks and humongous steaks falling from the sky. Weather girl Sam Sparks (voice of Anna Faris) launches her career covering the phenomenon, while Flint tries to earn her love. The movie is crazy in the head and makes no apologies for it. I especially liked Flint’s Rat-bird invention, creatures that make recurring appearances throughout the film. Other voices include Mr. T. as an overly athletic cop, Bruce Campbell as a gluttonous mayor, and James Caan as Flint’s dad. It’s absurd, wacky and fun, and you need to see it in 3-D if you can.
