Changes at the RN&R

Former news editor Deidre Pike has replaced Jimmy Boegle as editor of the Reno News & Review. Pike, a graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno, has worked at the RN&R for nearly a year. She was formerly the health editor and the technology editor at the Reno Gazette-Journal.

Pike moved to Reno in 1992 with her husband, Dave Pike, a National Weather Service meteorologist, and their six children.

Pike said she plans to pursue the standard of excellence set by Boegle in his year and nine months at the RN&R.

“I would like to see the diverse voices of the community reflected even more in our coverage,” she said. “We can give people the chance to participate in a conversation about the future of Northern Nevada.”

Jeff vonKaenel, president and CEO of Chico Community Publishing, the parent company of the Reno News & Review, said he is excited about what Pike can offer the paper.

"From what we’ve seen in her columns and other writings, we’re very excited about what she can do for the Reno News & Review," vonKaenel said. "Jimmy did some great things for the paper, and we’re looking forward to working with him more in the future."
