Capote

An incredible movie depicting the relationship between Truman Capote (Philip Seymour Hoffman) and the killers who became the subjects of his non-fiction novel In Cold Blood. Hoffman manages greatness in this role, disappearing into the guise of the famous author. As Perry Smith, Clifton Collins Jr. is as haunting as Robert Blake was when he played the role in the adaptation of the Capote book. For those who have read Capote’s work, this is just fascinating. The depictions of artistic torture Capote put himself through seem highly realistic (the author was reportedly never the same after the book was published). One of the year’s best films.
