Cancer climb
Help raise money for cancer research at the Squaw Valley Mountain Run & Climb Aug. 23
Three close relatives of mine have had cancer. One was diagnosed at age 21, another was diagnosed at age 48 and one has been diagnosed three times over the course of 20 years. I do not doubt that I myself will run into the disease some day, but right now I want to do everything I can to prevent that from happening. That’s why I plan to run for a cure. On Saturday, Aug. 23, everyone is encouraged to join the 22nd Annual Squaw Valley Mountain Run & Climb to End Cancer. Registration is $35 and you can run or walk your way to the top of the mountain, where you’ll find refreshments provided at Squaw Valley’s High Camp. The climb covers 3.6 miles and about 2,000 vertical feet. Festivities begin at 8:30 a.m. for runners and 8:45 a.m. for walkers. Call (530) 582-3483 for more information and to register.
