Cafferata enters council race

Calling for keeping “our best and our brightest here” by working “with some of the city's young innovators and entrepreneurs,” Elisa Cafferata this week announced her candidacy for the Reno City Council. She is running in ward 2, a seat currently held by Sharon Zadra, who is term limited.

“I know it seems early, but the primary election is less than a year away,” she wrote in an announcement sent out by email. “And, there are people already talking about extending their political careers by running for this seat. I would like to ask for your support. … While I've been active in Nevada politics, I have also worked in the public, private and nonprofit sectors. Because of this, I know how to navigate government, but I will bring a fresh, problem-solving perspective to the Reno City Council. I'm not running for this seat for any reason other than I love this community. My grown children don't live here. Their work has taken them to other cities.”
