Radio stations change hands
A fledgling radio network has expanded into the Reno market. Jeff Wilks, who already owns three FM stations in Fresno, this week purchased stations in Lubbock and Reno.

Wilks Broadcast LLC, a division of New York’s Wicks Group, bought eight FM stations from Colorado-based NextMedia Group for $34 million.

They include Reno’s KTHX, KRZQ, KJZS and KURK.

Wilks once owned an 11-station group that he sold to Citadel Broadcasting two years ago for $133.3 million. He got back into radio this year with the purchase of the Fresno stations. He issued a statement Tuesday after the Reno and Lubbock acquisitions: “We are very pleased to be acquiring these radio stations in strong and dynamic markets. We are looking forward to working with the talented people at these stations as we continue to grow the business.”
