Bring ’Em In

One of the blues giants of Chicago delivers one of his best releases in years. Although there are guest appearances by Keith Richards, Carlos Santana and Tracy Chapman, the best things on the CD are the choices of material and Guy’s voice and guitar in delivering them. He breathes new life and fire into classic soul and R & B tunes—“Ninety Nine And One Half,” “I Put A Spell On You,” “Somebody’s Sleepin’ In My Bed,” “I’ve Got Dreams To Remember”—as well as some unlikely choices, such as Dylan’s “Lay Lady Lay.” His guitar lines sting when they need to and ethereally drift off when they don’t. His voice is a thing of its own, inhabiting the songs with a raw tremolo.
