Border-Lines

Edited by Emma Sepulveda

This new scholarly journal from UNR’s Latino Research Center aims to contextualize the demographic trends of Latinos in Nevada. Edited by artist and professor Emma Sepulveda, the journal casts a wide topical net, addressing retention rates of Spanish over generations and a proposed congressional act that would allow college-educated children of undocumented immigrants to seek citizenship. The journal’s tone will most appeal to readers accustomed to the constraints of academic text, but if Border-Lines is still seeking its conversational stride, it can already mark clear successes: its ability to invite discussion about the continual give and take between cultures and to look at national trends through a local lens.
