Book signing

Casino Women book released

An important volume on women who work in casinos is now in bookstores and a book signing for the two authors is scheduled at Sundance Books in Reno.

Published by Cornell University Press, Casino Women is based on interviews with female laundry workers, cooks, waitresses, maids, dealers, pit bosses, managers and corporate executives. It examines issues like treatment of workers, sexual harrassment, union activities and toxins in the workplace (“Smoke and mirrors,” RN&R, Aug. 11). It also deals with the dangers workers face if they speak out against poor working conditions or treatment.

The book signing will be 1:30-3:30 p.m. on Oct. 22.
