Bob Marley & The Wailers

Legend (Deluxe Edition)

The most popular album in the Bob Marley canon remains Legend, a multi-platinum hits collection that was originally issued on LP in 1984. It has now been included in a splashy reissue series that so far also includes his earlier albums Catch a Fire and Exodus, each of them remastered and repackaged and each including a bonus disc of alternate mixes, dub versions, live performances and more. Legend benefits from sharpened sound quality, and the bonus disc in this case is an interestingly mixed bag: There are several genuinely interesting extended versions and dub mixes (most notable are Julian Mendelsohn’s dubs of "Three Little Birds" and "One Love"), as well as a double handful of really awful disco remixes by Eric Thorngren. Completists will be thrilled; others should proceed with some caution.
