Snow Sessions brings together underground hip hop and snowboarding

The two cultures just come together like … like poetry. "I like to listen to hip hop and snowboard. It’s like poetry, really. And snowboarding is an artistic way to express yourself," says Steve Goodin, an organizer of the Snow Sessions event, which brings together underground hip hop and snowboarding culture. "When you bring [hip hop and boarding] together," Goodin continues, "it’s an unstoppable combination." At the Dec. 15 event, snow boarders and lovers of underground hip hop can groove to the sounds of hip hop bands including Eyedea and local band Unified School District, view the snowboarding videos Road to Madness and Notice to Appear and enter a raffle to win merchandise from 702 Skate Shop. Snow Sessions is held at the New Oasis; doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 at the door, or advanced tickets are available for $12 at The Spot, 4385 Neil Road, 825-9155, ReTroPoLiS, 25 St. Lawrence Ave., 348-9797 or at 702 Skate Shop, 119 Clearview Drive, Carson City, 887-5676.
