Blades of Glory

Rated 3.0

A couple of rival male figure skaters (Will Ferrell and Jon Heder) get themselves banned from the sport and reemerge as history’s first male figure-skating pair. It’s a platform for Ferrell to act like a buffoon again, and nobody does it better. As Chazz Michael Michaels (great name), he represents the supposed macho side of male figure skating, while the character portrayed by Heder is decidedly more feminine. Throw in a massive sex addiction for Michaels, and you’re looking at another memorable comic creation for Ferrell. Will Arnett and Amy Poehler (actually married in real life) play a sinister pair of figure skating siblings who look to sabotage the majestic pursuits of our heroes, while Jenna Fisher is pretty darned cute as Heder’s love interest. Not as funny as some of Ferrell’s other vehicles, but there are enough laughs to put this one over the top. For my money, Talladega Nights remains his best.
